At least 16,670 Mexicans were repatriated from the United States to Mexico between January 20 and March 5, with an average of 370 returns per day.

This was announced this Thursday afternoon by Francisco Garduño Yáñez, commissioner of the National Institute of Migration (INM), during his visit to Ciudad Juárez at the Support and Services Center for Repatriated Mexicans, located in the El Punto area.

The official said that the number of Mexicans in Chihuahua amounts to 2,322 nationals, which represents a daily flow of 22 people in the state.

During his visit to this border, he said that last Wednesday, March 5 alone, 502 Mexicans and 48 foreigners were returned to the country, totaling 550 migrants in a single day.

In view of this situation, the federal government has reinforced the infrastructure to receive them, setting up a center with capacity for 1,500 people, where they are provided with support and guidance for their reintegration.

He indicated that this strategy is part of the “Mexico embraces you” program, which seeks to guarantee a dignified and safe return for those who have been repatriated.

He mentioned that in this space, migrants have access to services such as food, medical attention, legal advice and support for their transfer to their places of origin.

The actions implemented respond to the directive of the President of the Republic, Claudia Sheinbaum, who has instructed that repatriated Mexicans be received with dignified conditions and comprehensive care to facilitate their reintegration process in their communities.

As part of this strategy, federal, state and municipal authorities launched the Support and Services Center for Mexicans Repatriated in Ciudad Juarez, with the aim of providing comprehensive care to those returning to the country.

The delegate of Welfare Programs, Mayra Chávez, said that this center will not only function as a shelter, but will also offer medical assistance, economic support, employment services, administrative procedures and legal orientation.

He said that as part of the support, each repatriated person will receive a Paisano Bienestar card, with a balance of 2 thousand pesos for personal expenses.

In addition, the National Migration Institute will cover the cost of transportation for those who wish to return to their place of origin.
