    40 migrant families lost after fire at INM

    The death toll from the fire inside the National Migration Institute (INM) on March 27 has risen to 40 victims, federal government personnel announced.

    The last person to die was being transferred to the National Center for Investigation and Attention to the Burned (CENIAQ), located in Mexico City, and died upon arrival at the hospital’s facilities.

    Authorities from the Mexican Social Security Institute and the Federal Health Ministry announced that over the course of the weekend six migrants were transferred to the aforementioned center on board air ambulances.

    There are currently 23 people hospitalized, of which five will be discharged in the next few hours, while the rest will continue to be transferred to the specialized clinic according to the corresponding medical evaluation.

    Mexican authorities have not provided details about the identity of the man who lost his life during the transfer.
