    Juarez records violent streak; 39 homicides in December

    The month of December has been one of the most violent of the year in Ciudad Juarez, with 39 deaths in 14 days. In just two days there were at least 20 murders, according to the count of this media and information from the Citizen Observatory of FICOSEC and the State Attorney General’s Office.

    On Tuesday, December 12, Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, 12 people lost their lives in different events.

    Among the deceased were two women, according to information gathered at the scene.

    The incidents occurred in different points of the city, registered in the colonias Lucio Blanco, Morelos, Valle Alto, Infonavit Juarez Nuevo, Solidaridad, Panfilo Natera, Praderas de los Oasis.

    In a first event, around 11:30 in the morning, a man and a woman were found dead on the street Oasis Arabic, on the corner of Oasis de Arizona in the Praderas de los Oasis neighborhood, where the cause of death was a firearm projectile.

    In three more events, registered at 12:30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., the bodies of three lifeless men were found in the Pánfilo Natera, Solidaridad and Juárez Nuevo neighborhoods. In all three, the cause of death was a firearm projectile.

    Around 6:00 p.m., the discovery of human remains was registered on Yugoslavia Street, on the corner of Guadalquivir Street in Valle Alto neighborhood, where a plastic bag with a leg up to knee height was found on the street.

    An hour later, another man was found dead on the corner of Granito and Amatista streets in the Morelos neighborhood. Two men and a woman were found dead in a house located on the corner of Francisco Galarza and José Bugarín streets in the Lucio Blanco neighborhood.

    The last event took place on Tuesday night, when agents found a man wrapped in a mask on Sauzal street in the Ejido de El Sauzal.

    On Wednesday, December 13, following a call to the Emergency and Immediate Response Center (CERI 911), the body of a burned and bound man was reported at the intersection of Monte de Toledo and Monte de Kenia streets in the Parajes de San Juan neighborhood.

    Later, the bodies of a man and a woman were found dead, apparently killed by a firearm, and in the same place, a man was injured in a house located on Pitayo and Justo Sierra streets, in Colonia Zaragoza.

    In another incident, a man died at the IMSS Clinic 66, as a result of a firearm projectile. 

    The bodies of a man and a woman were found dead on Che Guevara and Jaime Nuno streets in Colonia Zaragoza. 

    In two other incidents, the bodies of two men were found on Héroes del Carrizal and Babicora streets in Colonia Anáhuac and another on Santa Rosa and Batalla de Torreón streets in Colonia Pradera de los Oasis.
