Unaccompanied by an adult or family member, at least 120 migrant children were sheltered by the State DIF during the past week alone, after they were found traveling alone, with the purpose of crossing into the United States.

According to the director of the institution, Gabriel Eguiarte Fruns, more than one hundred children are sheltered every week.
He commented that they have two sub-centers to provide attention to the minors where their well-being is safeguarded and their health is prioritized.
He also said that, compared to last year, up to Thursday morning, the number of minors taken into care by the state authorities was reduced by 95.
The state official also pointed out that the children are in good health and part of the attention is to provide them with adequate medical care and a balanced diet.
