Animal activists denounced that yesterday afternoon they videotaped two dead rabbits inside the Parque Central (Central Park), despite the fact that they had already reported to state authorities about the conditions in which the species live in that place.

However, authorities in charge of the Parque Central indicated that the death of these animals was due to heat stroke, due to the high temperatures registered in this border during the last few days.
Roberto Chávez, member of the “Consejo Somos Su Voz Council” (We are their voice Council) sent videos taken inside the park where several of the animals can be seen living in conditions that are not the most suitable for them, because in the same place, turkeys, peacocks, rabbits, turtles, pigeons, roosters and quails coexist.
“We shot this video three weeks ago. It was recorded on Friday, the turkey hen agonized all day Saturday and woke up dead on Sunday”, he said.
“The situation of the Central Park is worrisome, because since we started collecting signatures almost every day, we have realized that all the animals are in terrible conditions. There are hundreds of ducks, but they are ducks that we see walking along the park’s walkways. We hardly see them in the lake, the water is polluted”, said Ana Félix, spokesperson for the collective.

She mentioned that they constantly observe the ducks by the walker areas, but not inside the lake.
“The ducks depend on the people who go to the park. There is an area in the back, where Tecnológico Avenue is, that has a variety of animals, it is a total mess. They kill each other for hunger, for territory or simply because their environment is altered. There are rabbits, pigeons, roosters, quails, birds that come down to look for food, peacocks. There is a dead duck at dawn, several dead rabbits, we do not know the cause, but something is happening in there”, he pointed out.
Likewise, Roberto Chávez indicated that the smell in some areas is unbearable, as they have only noticed the dead animals that are in sight, but they do not rule out that there could be more in the burrows.
He commented that on Friday of last week they held a meeting with Oscar Ibañez, representative of the governor in Juarez, as well as with the administrator of the Central Park, Rogelio Muñoz, where they were informed about the area where the dead rabbits were recorded.
However, on Thursday afternoon they documented their demise.
In this regard, Circuito Frontera interviewed the administrator of the Central Park, Rogelio Muñoz Sapién, who indicated that the two rabbits died from heat stroke, which was determined after the veterinarian checked them.
Regarding the turkey hen that was agonizing in that place, Muñoz Sapién said that she was taken to receive medical attention, since she was injured in a fight between the same animals, but that she was already well and was returned to that place.
He also stated that the video of the dead rabbits is from previous days. However, there is a live transmission from Thursday afternoon where this situation was documented.
“The veterinarian records them in the morning and in the afternoon. It looks like it was heat stroke for those two rabbits. Every day they are fed, every day they are cleaned, watered. There is enough water for all the animals. It was a heat stroke, but the others have been checked and they have all been fine. The video is from previous days, it is not from yesterday”, he commented.
