Manuel Alfonso Marín Salazar, head of @INAMI_mx in Chihuahua, stated this afternoon that migrants can apply for refuge and be granted permanent residency in Mexico.
Also, any person has the possibility of regularizing his or her migratory situation in México and requesting refuge if he or she so desires, as well as, depending on each case, the Mexican Commission for Refugee Assistance (COMAR) can make a positive decision and grant permanent residence in Mexico.
The official was questioned about the series of operations that have been carried out in the border area since last weekend, however, most of the migrants have arrived at this border by train, to which Marín Salazar replied that sometimes neither of the two is possible, as they seek to ensure the safety of people in mobility.
