It is worth noting that this Thursday, María Elena Ramos, director of Compañeros A.C., announced at a press conference that the number of intentional homicides increased by at least 10 percent at the end of the year.

She said that in addition, a considerable increase in femicides was observed, a situation that has generated great concern.

Ramos detailed that, up to November 2023, the Women’s Prosecutor’s Office (FEM) opened 24 investigation files related to femicides, while up to December 28, 155 women had been murdered.

The activist stressed the urgency of addressing this issue, which has a profound impact on society.

Another critical point she addressed was the violence perpetrated by police forces of different governments against citizens.

She emphasized that the group Compañeros A.C. continues to receive testimonies from people affected by police violence, especially in the area of municipal public security.

Regarding victims of abuse, Ramos emphasized the importance of promoting the reporting of such incidents, although fear is often a significant barrier that prevents victims from reporting these incidents.
